We R Memory Keepers!

It's a new month over at A Walk Down Memory Lane and that means two new Manufacturer's of the Month! The first one to tell you about is We R Memory Keepers! There is some fabulous stuff in the store and it is all 25% off during the month of April! I got to play with some of the fun stuff from the MVP Collection.

ANother Year Card

This line was perfect for the men in my life! I finished off my cards with some fun black flocking also from We R Memory Keepers. You start off by rubbing the adhesive rub-on directly onto your project where you would like to place your title. I used the birthday sentiments but you can find all sorts of different designs and sentiments to use with flocking, glitter or foil transfers! After transferring your adhesive design, lay the flocking over it and rub with a Popsicle stick. Carefully peel back the flocking sheet making sure that the coverage is adequate as you may need to rub again for full coverage.

This was the first time that I had used these rub-ons and transfer sheets --- I was pleasantly surprised at the ease, the quality and the cost!

Spring Break!

I think I am more excited than the boys are! 10 whole days without all the extra running around to and from classes and all the school planning. 10 whole days to scrapbook and play with my toys. 10 whole days to get my house clean and keep it clean. 10 whole days to visit with friends and enjoy my family. Yep - 10 whole days! I'm totally excited and I'm starting tonight. I plan to scrap the night away while the boys watch a bunch of Godzilla movies --- don't think I really want to join them!

Before I start playing around with my goodies, I want to share a few more small projects that I just finished. These are for the local scrapbook store, The Urban Scrapbooker. I keep things fairly simple when designing for the store so that the customers can easily duplicate them if they desire. This first set of cards is mad with the new SEI Birthday Papers --- quick & easy:

Next up is a layout with some fun new Crate Paper & my Martha Stewart punch:

I have been really loving the idea of using the leftover pieces of paper from punching my borders --- for this one, I added those little flowers and dots to the layouts as a border for my photos!

If you are local to the greater Seattle area you can find all the supplies at the Urban Scrapbooker --- if you aren't --- you can find them online at A Walk Down Memory Lane!

DON'T FORGET --- YOU HAVE UNTIL THIS SUNDAY NIGHT AT 11:59PM PST TO BECOME A FOLLOWER OF MY BLOG AND COMMENT ON THE CELEBRATION POST IN ORDER TO HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN THE PRIZE BOX OF GOODIES!

Wow - what a week!

I spent the whole week getting ready for the scrapbooking garage sale and boy did it fly by! The crazy part was all the nightmares that I had where no one showed up for the sale! Thankfully, that didn't happen and we had a great turn out! We had 13 ladies all selling their scrapbooking/stamping/cardmaking supplies and it was terrific! We had a packed house from 9:30am to 11:30am and then a steady stream of shoppers till almost 2:00pm! The sellers made some good cash and the buyers received some fabulous bargains --- there was smiles all around! If I had to estimate, I would say we had nearly 150 shoppers and made almost $3,000 total! It was an amazing time! We decided to make it a twice a year event - so keep your eyes open for another sale happening in September!

Sadly, I didn't get any photos - between the chaos here and the dead batteries in my camera, it just didn't happen.

We also spent the weekend enjoying some gorgeous weather and watching some great baseball! Luke had his jamboree last night:

Yes, he knows that we are taking his picture!

Today, I spent the day editing and ordering a new set of pictures of Ms. Emma --- it took me almost 3 hours but was all worth it because I got to look at her cute cheeks and big eyes and that just made me smile! These are a few of my favorites --- but you will see tons on layouts very soon!

This first one is my new desktop screen saver --- just makes me happy!

Love this one:

Some of my favorite pictures of my kids were in a laundry basket --- so this one is a keeper:

I'll be back tomorrow with a fun blog giveaway!

Oh yeah --- had a few questions on the last couple of posts:

----the new Fairy Tale Collection is just being ordered by your LSS -- so look for it to be arriving soon!

----is mono glue messy? Nope! If you use it very sparingly like writing with a pen, you will have no mess! That is the trick!

3.19.2010

Life is a FAIRY TALE!

Well at least it is when you are scrapbooking with the new Reminisce Fairy Tale Collection! Look how cute this line is:

I am in love with the Little Red Riding Hood one! Now to find Emma a Little Red Riding Hood cape so I can take some adorable pictures! In the meantime, I had fun working with the Alice in Wonderland papers and sticker sheet --- cause we all know that Jordan is just a tiny bit obsessed with Alice and her friends in Wonderland!

Imaginisce LIVE LOUD & Tombow Adhesives!

Yep --- that is what I received this month in my Imaginisce box! Those of you that know me, know that I am a mono glue girl all the way.

EP20729006

I have these little white bottles all over my scrap desk! It has been my adhesive of choice for almost 4 years now and even when I try something new, I always come make to my faithful bottle of mono. I am constantly running into folks that don't understand my obsession - mostly because it is a liquid glue. They don't understand how I can use this for EVERYTHING --- paper, pictures and embellishments! Well, let me tell you all about it!

Mono is the consistency of Elmer's glue --- but oh so much stronger. It all started back when I worked at the local Scrapbook Store and our designs were displayed upright under very hot lights. Most adhesive would dry out and get brittle and the layouts would begin to fall apart. After trying almost every "STRONG" adhesive, we found Mono Glue! It is not only strong - but it also stays soft & flexible! Now I know that most of us never have to worry about those problems especially since we slide our pages in page protectors. But, I love the added security it gives me for the future of my scrapbooks!

The best part of all is that it can also pass as a repositionable adhesive! If you let a light film of it dry before adhering, it acts like a temporary post it note! You can move it around till you are happy with the placement and then it will become permanent!

So, is there a trick for using it for everything? Absolutely! Let me share! I always use the pen end of my glue, never the wide coverage end. Because of it's strength, only a very small amount is needed. I give the bottle a quick flick to move the glue into the tip --- then I remove the lid. Here is the trick --- treat the glue like you were holding a pen and writing a squiggle. Very little pressure is needed --- very little! Using it like a pen --- draw a very thin line all the way around your paper, picture or embellishment about 1/4 inch from the edges. If it is a large item -- add a quick light squiggle to the middle also. Then adhere your item. You will have about 30 seconds to move it around gently before it adheres. YOU NEED VERY LITTLE ADHESIVE! Believe me -- one bottle of this stuff goes a long way!

This is fantastic for almost everything --- the only other adhesives I keep in stock are glue dots for buttons and my stapler for ribbon! It truly is a universal adhesive and so easy to use once you get the technique down.

So --- can you imagine how thrilled I was when Imaginisce and Tombow decided to hook up this month and give all the Designers a bunch of adhesive? Oh my gosh --- I was over the top thrilled! Not only did they send us some of my favorite Mono Glue, but we got some tape runners, a glue pen and a set of these:

In that box was the LIVE LOUD Collection from Imaginisce:

Fun News!

Fun news to share but before I do..... a baseball update for everyone! Austin had his first High School baseball game today. Edmonds Woodway over Oak Harbor 14-0 in 5 innings. He started at first base, went 3-3 at the plate and brought in 3 RBI's. All his shots were up the middle, in fact one was only 2 feet from clearing the center field fence for a Grand Slam! Wouldn't that have been an amazing way to start his high school career! It was a fun game in gloriously warm 60 degree weather --- amazing!

Okay ---- enough of the proud mother talk ---- there are lots of things going on in scrapbook land today!

I want to give a reminder about the ROCKIN' the Eighties crop over at A Walk Down Memory Lane Design Team Blog. The challenges have all been issued and you have until the end of March to get your designs posted to qualify for a great prize package from Bella Blvd and Lizzie Anne Stamps!

Speaking of Lizzie Anne Stamps - They are the manufacturer of the month over at the store. You will receive 25% all the Lizzie Anne Products you buy this month! I got a chance to play with them for the first time - I choose a very versatile sunflower stamp which I just love! I stamped and heat embossed a bunch of the flowers on different scraps of cardstock - cut out the flowers and centers and added a pop dot for dimension. This is the layout I came up with:

joyce

Another reminder for you --- a huge paper crafting garage sale is happening this Saturday at my house! There will be over 15 sellers with more stuff than you can imagine! If you are loval to the Seattle area -- make sure to stop by!

By Style -- In each issue of Scrapbook News and Review Magazine, we feature scrapbook pages by style and skill level. We’re currently looking for pages, either in traditional or digital format, that feature a clearly defined style such as Clean and Simple, Modern and Graphic, Freestyle and Eclectic, Pretty Chic, Whimsical or Fantasy, and more. Please send at least three to five layouts that you feel best represents your work as well as explain in a few brief sentence what style you feel best describes your work.

Baby – There are no two ways about it, baby is often the star of the family, soaking up all the camera time and special moments in the spotlight. This call is for babies from newborn to their first birthday and what we're really looking for is something outside the traditional themes and topics. Think you've got what it takes to jump outside the box? Come show us!

Family Time– Traditions, routines, rules (and breaking them), we want to see your family in all its glory. From happy and lucky to be together to kid chaos and holiday hullabaloo (any holiday will do!).

Whether from a day long ago, just last year, or in preparation for this year, come share your beautiful mother's with us. This call is for any type of project from layouts to altered art and mixed media.

Shaped Papers – They're striking and add a lot of zip and flair to your pages, but a lot of people don't know how to use or shy away from them because they look too complicated to deal with, so come show your fellow scrapbookers how its done! Please include any tips or tricks you have for making them look just right on your pages.

Spring – No other season is met with so much promise and anticipation. This year, we want to see spring in all its splendor, from flowers and pretty dresses to new beginnings and fresh starts.

Style Spotlight: Vintage Chic & Romance – Ethereal, timeless and pretty, Vintage Chic & Romance has a style all its own. If you lean toward this style and want to show off your amazing creations, please send them in. We'd love to ooh and ahh over your pages.

Sunday Catch Up!

Yeah for crossing stuff off our list today! The most important thing that we did was get a car for Jordan! She finally bit the bullet and used her graduation money to buy a car. It's just a commuter car, but it will help out with all the transportation issues we have been having so far this spring!

Meet Franklin - (yes, she knows that cars should be girls, but she is sure this one's a boy.)

franklin

It's in great shape and even has a cool stereo and ipod jack! Now to teach her how to drive a clutch!

In addition to the car, we caught up on laundry, paid the bills, balanced the checkbook and even had time to relax a bit.

One thing I got off my list was to send in my application to the Jillibean Design Team Call. Their products are amazing and it would be so cool to get a chance to work with them. I thought I'd share my designs with you:

and a couple older layouts from last year --- I love their kraft paper lines and those fabulous journaling spots!

I'm sure the response to their Design Team Call will have tons and tons of great applicants - good luck to everyone!

A New Day!

I know the way --- the way the 20 pounds creeps on and the way to get the 20 pounds off. I wake up many days and think, this is the day ---- the day I get back on track ---- the day I eat better ---- the day I exercise ---- the day (well, you can fill in the blank)! By lunch time those thoughts are somehow forgotten and my health gets put on the back burner because ---- well, it just takes work.

A friend of mine told me that I was worth the work yesterday --- that I could make the time and set aside the time for me. That my life and family would move along just fine without me for the small amount of time it would take me to get on my treadmill, cook a good meal, track my food, etc. She's right, of course. Not having time is an excuse -- a crutch that I give myself so that I can eat comfort food and lounge around on the couch. After all, who wants to sweat -- not me.

So really, for me it comes down to desire --- I don't expect miracles --- but I do WANT to be healthier, happier and thinner. So today is a new day. It's almost 1:00pm in the afternoon and I am still thinking about it. The plan is still on the front burner of my life today and I am workin' the PLAN! Jordan & I have signed back up for Weight Watchers, I am drinking my water and my friends can hold me accountable. Here we go!

The Urban Scrapbooker rec'd some fun new papers from Three Bugs in a Rug. They are simple and adorable! I created a simple layout to go with them:

Crazy Busy --- as usual....

...life in our house is utter chaos right now. We have not gotten in the swing of things with all the baseball, school, and church functions yet. Austin practices every night, Luke & Chase practice 3 times a week. There are parent meetings, auction meetings, soccer tryouts and church thrown in the mix too. We are in desperate need of a 3rd car and shoppin for one is a nightmare. How do you know what to buy or who to trust? UGH--- is all I can say about that. The forecast doesn't look much better either --- next week Jordan heads back to classes and that will just add a whole other dimension to the craziness.

A peek into my Saturday:

8:00am - drop Austin off for Baseball Jamboree
8:30am - volunteer (required) clean up party at Alderwood Little League
10:00am - Austin's Jamboree starts
10:30am - Sign in for Specialty meeting
11:30am - Specialty meeting starts
1:00pm - Drop off auction items
6:00pm - Birthday party
6:00pm - Austin's soccer tryouts
6:30pm - Chase & Luke Hitting Clinic

Well, you get the idea ---- desperately need that 3rd car!

On the brighter side, Sunday is wide open! I guess that will be the day to find a car!

A few more layouts for you today --- these are full of the brand new CRATE PAPER line - BROOK! If you are local to the Seattle area, you can find all this yummy paper at the Urban Scrapbooker in the Edmonds area. If you're not local, then check out A Walk Down Memory Lane because they have it all and more!

PURGE!

I interupt this day to give myself a pat on the back!

On March 20th, some friends and I are having a big Paper Crafting Garage Sale. I finally starting purging my scrap room ---- are you ready? So far, this is what I have set aside for the sale:

purge

I used to have overflowing IRIS containers for each color of my patterned paper - like 3-4 inches for each color. Now ---- there is about 20 sheets in each container, not even 1/2 inch! It feels so good to purge, but I have to admit, I am a bit nervous! I hang on to all my scraps because you never know when I might need them --- getting rid of them all is scary! I have purged all my minibooks - stamps - ribbon - flowers - buttons - chipboard - alphabets and everything else you can think off. I am even getting rid of like 30 sets of THICKERS! Oh MY!

Now to go through everything, organize & price and try not to feel the need to put it back in my scraproom!

awwww---Tuesday.

Life has been crazy busy lately ---- mostly fun stuff with a few not so fun moments thrown in. Lots of baseball - definitely fun. Lots of Scrappin' assignments - definitely fun. Lots of sunshine - definitely fun. Fixin' the leaking pipe in the crawlspace - not so fun. Looking for a car for Jordan - not so fun. Driving around all day like a tzxi - not so fun. Filling the gas tank every 3 days --- DEFINITELY NOT SO FUN!

But, I live for Tuesdays. Tuesday's are my day --- the day I have 6 hours at home alone --- in the absolute quiet of my house. Okay --- well, 5 hours. It takes me an hour to put a quick clean on things so that I can enjoy those next 5 hours of solitude. What's on the agenda for today? I don't know. That's the beauty of the day.

Before I head off to enjoys my moments --- here is another layout for you:

The Urban Scrapbooker is bursting at the seams with new product from Winter CHA. In fact, we are running out of paper trays all the time! This layout is some new KaiserCraft that is in stock!

Dixie Pieces Challenge

Five more fun challenges go live today over at Dixie Pieces and I am excited! We are celebrating National Crafting Month and our challenges are paying tribute to all things crafty!

My challenge today is to create a layout using some fun embroidery stitches!

catnap

I used a fun blanket stitch around the edges of the chipboard hearts and then added some knots around the edge of the patterned paper circle. Make sure you join in the fun this month --- for your chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the store!

March Madness...

...has started in our house. Baseball is the topic of every conversation these days. Austin had HS tryouts on Monday & Tuesday, made the team Tuesday night, reported for 5:30am practice on Wednesday and he has done nothing but eat, sleep and dream baseball ever since. The exhaustion aside --- I think he is in heaven!

austin uniform

Chase started practice on Monday too ---- he is playing Juniors this year and we are so blessed to have him playing for Coach Todd, there is just something about his tough but understanding nature that we just love. Perfect guy for Chase! Luke start this coming Monday and he is super excited to get back on the field. Both boys are taking a hitting clinic this month at the Northwest Baseball Academy where Austin plays select ball. I think it will do amazing things for their confidence at the plate!

This week we have talked about healthy eating for this much activity -- we have shopped for large amounts of new & used baseball gear -- and we have gotten extra hours of sleep -- all as the sun has been warm & bright around here. March Madness is here and we love it!

I will be keeping you updated as I get game schedules --- here and on Facebook. Hope to see you at a game this spring!

March Madness is the theme of the month over at the Scrappin' Sports & More blog too! They are definitely the leader in the industry for all sports themed products! My layout for the first part of the month is all baseball.....Chase back in the day. Love my guys in their uniforms! Make sure you head over to the blog to see more fabulous MARCH MADNESS designs from the talented designers!

Still Lovin' the Eighties!

The Eighties Challenges are in full swing over on the Design Team Blog of A Walk Down Memory Lane! We are on challenge number 6 today and it's a good one!

My second challenge went live on Friday --- it's all about paint splatters! I remember having a sweatshirt that was covered in paint splatters --- it was the hot thing of the early 80's! My challenge is to use paint splatters on your layout --- but be careful! I have really cool lime green dots on my ceiling! I'm not sure how they got there!
